Skin Work

On the first build night in October Jason, Clay, Nate, and I got together to do a little R2 Building. Nate marked his top and bottom frame plates so he could route them out later. Jason worked on separating his skin panels and Clay worked on cleaning my skins (after a previous builder borrowed them to glue up a couple frames and left them a mess). THANK YOU CLAY!!!

Plastic Skins

Some local builders attached the plastic skins they made to R2-PD. I helped by holding up one side of the back skin and clamping down, so it could be screwed to the frame. But mostly, I heckled.

I Needed Help Testing My Frame Sanding

It was hard to make sure I sanded my frame enough to have the skins fit properly, so Brad and Moose offered to lend some helping hands so I could check the gaps. I'm really close, but I still have to do a little more sanding.

Brad and Moose noticed right away that I trimmed the upright boards inside my frame to allow myself bigger pockets behind the long R2 doors.

My Skins Arrived!

My skins arrived today and they look great! Now if only I can find some time to finish my frame then it might acutually look like I'm building an R2.

Aluminum Skins Ordered

I made my first purchase today. I ordered aluminum skins from Edward Sherrell. Can you call yourself an R2 builder if you haven't built anything yet?
