Final Frame Cuts

After the Arrows to Aerospace Parade and the Cub Scout meeting I really wanted to work on my R2. I stopped by Moose's house and finished routing and cutting my frame. On the next build day, I will bring my skins over and do a dry fit to make sure everything lines up before I glue the frame together.

I'm standing next to my fully routed/cut frame.

I routed out the space in the frame ring for the coin slot.

The hole was cut for the center leg.

The edges of the base frame board where cut to allow the feet and the battery boxes to slide by easily.

I put Mooses skins on my frame to see how much sanding needs to be done to get my skins to fit properly. I wish the frame plans were a little more accurate.

Bellevue Scouting Registration

The Central Garrison of the 501st asked the R2 Builders Club to join them in an event to register kids for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts in Bellevue.

Maria Cutshaw (Imperial Gunner) and Rob Carmichael (Darth Vader) of the Central Garrison pose for a picture before before we were introduced to the scouts.

As a thank you, the scouts gave the R2 Builders an R2-Potatoo. R2-CM and R2-C2 look like proud papas.

Arrows To Aerospace Parade

We participated in the Arrows to Aerospace parade and the gathering in Washington Park (after the parade). We setup camp at 6:00 AM Saturday morning and loaded Clay's and Moose's R2s on Moose's trailer for the parade. Neither of the R2s have breaks, so hills don't agree with them. Our buddy James was kind enough to volunteer to help us in the parade. My back was sore, so I stayed at the camp in the park.

Clay's buddy is driving, Clay is dressed in full jedi garb, and James and Moose are walking behind operating the R2s.

The R2s interaction with the kids.

Clay and Moose sit down and take a well deserved break.

My buddy Jay and his family stopped by to meet the R2s. Jay and his son James wanted a picture with the R2s.

Clay Has New Feet

Moose, James, and I got together to open the new cases we got for the Knights Of The Old Republic set and to lend a helping hand to Clay while he put together his new feet for his R2-C2.

20 Grand Clone Wars Opening

Our local builders club was asked by the 20 Grand theater to help promote the Clone Wars movie on it's opening weekend. I was present Friday night of the two-day event, but because Clay's R2 was having motor issues I was the camera man and go-fer rather than my normal droid operator.

Gary Campbell (BH1093), shown in the red and white ARC Trooper costume, of the Central Garrison was there Friday night with some of his local 501st friends to assist us in our efforts.

A portion of our group and 501st groups gather together to take a picture with Mary the theater manager.

Dome Da Dome Dum Dooooome!

I got my three piece C&D Styrene Dome today! An inner and outer dome to allow for opening compartments and details and a base that covers the lazy susan to rotate the dome.
